(Diana) Artemis is a great god that was known as "God of Wild Land, and Mistress of Animals." Artemis is often described as the daughter of Zues and Leto, and the twin sister of Apollo. She was the goddess of the hunt, wild animals, wilderness, childbirth, virginity and young girls, bringing and relieving disease in women. She was most commonly referred as a huntress carrying a bow and arrows. The deer and other animals in the wild were afraid of her.
Artemis was later found to be identified with Selene, a Titans Greek mood goddess. Some myths say that Artemis had a hunting dog that went hunting with her.She and her dog would fight off anything and kill anything that they saw as a harm.
The lightning thief:
Artemis, the goddess of animals and virginity, appears in the Lightning Thief through the symbolic representations at the cabins in Half Blood Hill, home to the Demigods. She had her own house at the camp but had no children occupying it because she is the goddess of virginity.
